UX Architects were commissioned by the client to apply for both Certificate of Lawfulness and full planning consent for the conversion of the dilapidated historic buildings into a family residence.

UX Architects undertook a detailed appraisal of the site to discover that historically, the two dilapidated structures were linked together to form one large dwelling. Utilising this concept, the existing buildings were restored and connected with a light-weight link structure. The roof of the link structure was thatched in a clean and crisp contemporary manner to compliment the reinstated buildings.

This glazed extension transformed the buildings into a four-bedroom house with a glazed vaulted kitchen and dining area, bedroom wing to the east and lounge to the west. The sliding pocket doors enable the space to be transformed depending on the use. When landing at the top of the cantilevered feature staircase the picture window and balcony frame the view out towards the countryside. The gallery landing leads to the master suite with custom fitted dressing areas and a large en-suite.
