Apartments | Chingford
Following various planning refusals on the site by previous architects, UX Architects were commissioned to reconsider the approach for improved facilities to the existing retail provision and apartments above to the high street corner site in Chingford, London.
The proposal retained the retail use on the ground floor with two linear apartments across each floor with front facing terraces. The elevations were redesigned to give the appearance of two terrace dwellings with a ‘gap’ between the buildings, created by the balcony amenity spaces and change or external facing materials. The contemporary metal clad mansard roof hosts one of the apartments with curved thin profiled metal dormers to create a sensitive proposal that has a low impact from street level.
